What if Genesis is much more than the story of creation. What if the story of the Patriarchs – Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph – is only authored to tell a grander one, the gospel? The gospel is the story of a God who creates humankind and – because of their sin – creates a new humanity in Jesus Christ.
As early as Genesis 1, the gospel can be heard in God’s voice as it echoes, “Let there be light” throughout the darkness. The gospel can be heard in the blood of Abel. And heard in Genesis 3 as a tearful God promised salvation to a brokenhearted man and woman. Genesis is the first gospel. It is the genesis of our re-genesis and the story of our rebellion, redemption and reconciliation.
B.C. tells the One Grand Story of Scripture – the gospel – as told in Genesis.
