Family Dedication is a special time when parents give the child that God gave them back into His care. Before the church body, they promise to raise their child according to His will, understanding that they will always be his or her most influential teacher. In dedicating their child, parents show that they commit to being a Christian role model through example and prayer, they promise to raise their child in the church, and also ask the church family to support them in these commitments.
If you are considering participating in the Family dedication at Ben Davis Christian Church, we would like to encourage you to think and pray about the following items:
- At BDCC, we take the commitment to raise children in the instruction of the Lord seriously. Each parent is commanded to exemplify and live out the Word of God every day and bring up their children to follow Him.
- In our family dedication service, you are coming forward to declare that, as the parent, you take your responsibility seriously and commit yourself to rearing your children in a God-honoring manner.
- We would also like to ask you to understand that the family dedication is not a baptism of the child and that the child does not become saved through this dedication. We believe that your child will make a decision about Christ at an age where he or she understands what that means.
