Faith That Moves is an initiative between Ben Davis Christian Church and the Christianville Foundation to build a school on the mountain peaks of TiBoucan, Haiti. With an enrollment of 250 primary students, the school has gathered without a building since 1986. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by January 1, 2018. The amount will fully fund construction – providing proper education to countless students for years to come and gainful employment for local residents during the project (most residents live on less than $3.00 a day).

  • Secure, mark boundaries and clear property – COMPLETED

  • Construct access road – $4,600.00 – COMPLETED

  • Build out (construct floors, walls, roof) – $33,5000.00

  • Add windows, doors, texture walls, paint interior and exterior – $7,500.00

  • Furnish chalkboards, desks, and chairs – $6,000.00

  • Addition of a well or latrine – $5,000.00

What is included in the original $30,000 goal?

In Haiti, a quote is given for a shell of a building. The $30,000 would have covered a floor, walls and roof in an open concept building.

How will the additional funds be spent?

The additional funds will allow Christianville to build a multi-room, multi-building school ground with more opportunity for growth. A road will be built up to the site allowing construction materials and eventually the school nutrition program easier access to the site. We will also be able to furnish the school with doors, window protection, desks, chalkboards and more.

What kind of oversight is there?

BDCC has put together a finance team for this project that will dispense money to Christianville as predetermined milestones are achieved. An accountant representing Christianville will provide funds to a contractor only as bills are presented to ensure that no funds are being misappropriated. The Executive Director of Christianville will also keep an eye on spending in Haiti to make sure we are not being scammed by anyone.

When will the project be completed?

The project will take approximately 6-8 months to complete. There are also external factors such as weather, cost of supplies, and transportation limitations.

How else can I be involved in the project?

Please pray for the work being done and the students in Haiti. We would love for you to join us on our trip to Haiti in June of 2018. There will be info sessions in December and January with additional trip information.
