Service
HOMEBOUND & HOSPITAL
This ministry has three major parts.
1) taking communion to the sick and shut-ins on Sunday
2) sending cards of sympathy, encouragement, congratulation, etc.
3) making visits to members in hospitals, nursing homes, or their own homes.
-We need several teams of three or four people each to rotate in taking communion to the sick and shut-ins on Sunday (men and women are encouraged to serve). Usually involves making two or three calls every tenth Sunday (assuming we have ten teams). Training is provided.
-Twelve people are needed for sending cards (each person sends cards for one month.) Instructions, cards and stamps are furnished. It would be helpful if you are familiar with the people in our congregation.
-Most of the calling in nursing homes, hospitals, etc. is done in pairs on a rotating basis. This part of the ministry has unlimited openings. Calling would be done on a rotating and as-needed basis.

MEALS
CONSOLATION MEALS
In this giving ministry, we provide food for those in our church family who have lost a loved one. We call upon you as needed to provide a side dish. You are asked to bring this item to the church. We also need volunteers to help with set-up and cleanup. This ministry requires little of your time. If you like to cook and are looking for a ministry in which to use this talent, we need you.
FELLOWSHIP MEALS MINISTRY
The Fellowship Meals Ministry exists to organize our all-church dinners. Volunteers are needed to help in planning, preparing, serving and cleaning up after these meals. Your involvement in this ministry will require only a minimal time commitment, as we have just a few events each year. In the year ahead, the Fellowship Meals Ministry will organize church dinners and other special events. It’s going to be an exciting year. We could really use your help!

COMMUNION AND BAPTISM MINISTRYThe communion ministry prepares communion for Sunday Worship Services. Ministry members wash the trays, fill juice and bread trays and prepare home communion kits. There are at least two members who work together, two days each week. Time spent each day is no longer than one hour. Service for each team is usually one month.
After baptisms, this ministry takes used towels and robes home to launder and returns them to baptismal dressing rooms by the following Sunday.
GREETERS
This ministry greets and ushers, hands out bulletins to worship service attendees and answers questions at the Welcome Center. Those who join this ministry should have an outgoing personality, a ready smile and a warm handshake.
WORSHIP SERVERS
Each Sunday at either the first or second service, a worship server will help serve communion and take up the offering. We also serve communion and take up offerings at special services such as Easter and Christmas. Each server will be scheduled only every other month and may choose which service they will serve in. This is a large ministry and presently requires approximately 50 members in order for the ministry to run smoothly.
This ministry also needs 2 to 3 people after each service to clean up all the pews of used communion cups, left over programs, etc.

Other
DECORATIONS MINISTRY
As the seasons change, so does the transformation of our church building. This ministry takes just a few hours of your time, a couple months out of the year. We decorate mainly at Easter and Christmas. We change out flowers during the other seasons and update with decorations throughout the building as needed. If you enjoy decorating, are creative and have an eye for detail, we need you! We use men and women in this ministry!
FACILITIES MINISTRY
Are you willing to help keep our building attractive and well maintained? If so, we have a place for you! Those with special skills such as heating/air conditioning, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, etc. are needed as well as those with painting, and general maintenance. Even if you do not feel you have any of these skills but just want to help in any way possible, we have a place for you!
GROUNDS MINISTRY
This ministry is dedicated to using the God given talents of our members to improve/maintain the property surrounding our buildings. You can assist this ministry if you have a desire to work alone, in a small group or with a large group. You are needed if you have the capability to trim trees and shrubs, plant and maintain flowers, general grounds maintenance, or just have the desire to fellowship with other Christians.
LIBRARY MINISTRY
What is the Library Ministry? The Ben Davis Christian Church Library was organized to provide Christian devotional, doctrinal, educational, Christian fiction and reference material for all people. Our library is a fine resource to patrons of any age. We currently have over 2,000 books and 200 audio/video tapes and CDs. The Library Ministry needs willing helpers who are not only interested in maintaining and enhancing the current collection of books and tapes but also in assisting with staffing the library during Sunday School and passing periods.
OFFICE
Our friendly BDCC office staff can use your help! Can you do light clerical duties? Do you like to talk on the telephone? Can you address an envelope? Do you have a valid driver's license and car? These are just a few of the areas in which you could serve.
- Deliver King’s Business one or more times per year
- Help with special office projects
- Answering phone on occasion
- Church mailings
TRANSPORTATION This ministry needs bus drivers for our Sunday morning route, plus other group activities when notified. You must have your CDL license to drive the church bus. The Transportation Ministry is also responsible to maintain the church bus.
