Psalm 1:1-3

1 Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

Joy is the outflow of a heart that seeks God first. Filling our heart and mind with God’s word and guarding our heart and thoughts from the negativity of the world around us refreshes us with God’s living water. When we seek God first, and pray for Him to fill our hearts with His love and desires for our lives, He watches over our path, sustains us through the difficult times, and pours blessing in our lives.

Reflect on the times in your life when God has watched over the path of your life and poured blessings into a situation that unbelievers or ‘mockers’ would see as hopeless. Thank God for His faithfulness and seek direction and discernment for the day, the week, and/or any situation that is pressing on your heart.
