Proverbs 30:7-9 (NIV)

“Two things I ask of you, Lord;
   do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
   give me neither poverty nor riches,
   but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
   and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’
Or I may become poor and steal,
   and so dishonor the name of my God.

“Lord, I want to always be truthful, and I just want enough to meet my needs.” What a wise request; truthfulness and to have just what I need. Too much and I might begin to think I’m the one who provided the wealth that I have, which would not be true. Too little, and I might be tempted beyond my ability to endure, and steal what I need, and in so doing deny God’s ability to provide for my needs, which is dishonest. Either one of these destroys our witness to others of God’s love and ability, and also robs God of His glory.

God you alone are truth, help me to follow and be truthful in all that I say and do. You alone know what level of provision and blessing I need to keep me looking to you, giving you the glory as the Source of that blessing and provision. May I ever be content and grateful to just have ‘enough’, and show my appreciation and gratitude to all that I encounter so they will see You as the provider of all my needs and seek You as well.
