ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

We’re a non-denominational, Christian Church.

Our Essential Beliefs represent the most simple and foundational beliefs of Christian orthodoxy and the Restoration Movement. The members of our church affirm these doctrinal statements about God, humankind, salvation, the Bible, the church, and the return of Jesus Christ.

The Godhead

THE TRINITY

The Triune God exists in Trinity. He is three co-equal and co-eternal beings in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present.

James 2:19; Matthew 19:26; Matthew 6:8; Psalm 139:8

GOD THE FATHER

God is the Father of all created things. By Him all things were created and for Him all things exist. God the Father is the ultimate authority of the universe. He is Holy and without flaw.

James 2:19; Matthew 19:26; Matthew 6:8; Psalm 139:8

GOD THE SON

Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.

James 2:19; Matthew 19:26; Matthew 6:8; Psalm 139:8

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 2:10

Humankind

THE VALUE OF HUMANKIND

Humankind has value and is the supreme object of God’s creation.

 John 3:16; Romans 5:8

THE CREATION OF HUMANKIND

Humankind was created by God and for God. God created humanity in His image, and He created them equally, male and female.

 Genesis 1:27

THE NATURE OF HUMANKIND

Humankind is separated from God as the result of disobedience. All are born with a sinful nature and all sin against God. No effort of man can restore the broken bond between he and God.

 Revelation 19:16; Matthew 24:36

Salvation

SALVATION

Salvation is the forgiveness of sins which restores the broken relationship between humankind and God. It is the gracious gift of God. Any man or woman who desires salvation must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, who conquered sin by dying on the cross, and conquered death by resurrecting from the dead. In response to this truth, he or she must repent of sin and be baptized in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 2:8-9; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38

The Bible

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word. It was written by men who received guidance from the Holy Spirit. Because the Bible was inspired by God it is both infallible and authoritative.

 2 Timothy 3:16

The Church

THE CHURCH

The church is the hope of the world. It is the Body of Christ. He is the head of the body, and the church is the hand of Jesus reaching out to give hope to a hopeless world. A Christian becomes a part of the Body of Christ, the church, at baptism. To be healthy, each part of the body must work together.

 Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:12-26

The Return of Jesus Christ

THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

Jesus will return to earth and reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. No man or woman knows the date or the hour, but can prepare for his return.

 Revelation 19:16; Matthew 24:36
